Everyone knows that Charice can sing and perform. But one side of her career that many have been carefully watching is her transition from a singer/performer to an actor. Back in the Philippines, her acting on local shows were not as commendable. Subsequently, when press released that she'll be appearing on Glee Season 2, both fans and critics were hungry and waiting for how it will unfold.
Fortunately, her appearances on Glee have displayed a gradual improvement from the first to this final stint. Her acting has greatly enhanced. The emotions that she demonstrated were appropriate to each line that she uttered. Even her diction is well-improved.
It is noticeable though that many critics have given too much emphasis on her weight. There are varied opinions on it but for people who are used to how the camera works, it's obvious that Charice didn't gain weight. It only appeared so because of her hairstyle, her dress, and camera angle among others.
This negative focus on weight has potential unhealthy effects. It is because of criticisms like these that many teenage Hollywood stars have ended up in unfortunate states of anorexic and bulimic disorders.
These critics have been focusing on a non-essential. What needs to be notice really is the grandeur of Charice's performance and not her weight.
Charice sang with returning champions Vocal Adrenaline and belted out an original song entitled "As Long As You're There". The performance was overall impressive. The song's lyrics are noteworthy and the arrangement is spectacular. What's more, the song is able to display Charice's full range and thus giving her talent justice. Every detail of that performance was breath-taking.
Charice has also recently released other singles from her upcoming sophomore album. The songs are "One Day", "Before It Explodes", "Louder", and "Lost The Best Thing". All these singles make fans anticipate an awesome album because in every way, these are better than the songs in her debut album. Perhaps this year, Charice will gain a bigger recognition - one that she truly deserves.
